Coaches Day!!

Greetings,
In an earlier blog post it was mentioned how we had the chance to go on a retreat with the CDUC U-20 team. This Monday we had a similar opportunity when we got to go on a retreat with the coaches of the CDUC as well. Not only was it a nice change of pace for our team but I would imagine that the coaches enjoyed the little break as well. The day began when we loaded up into a bus along with the coaches and took a ride to the outskirts of Medellin. After 45 minutes we arrived at our destination which was a Colombian resort. This resort had just about everything you could ask for to have a relaxing day. The facilities included a swimming pool, a soccer field, gazebos with lounge chairs, and many other amenities.
One of the first planned events upon arrival to the resort was a devotional covering Nehemiah and Haggai with group discussions over the topics. After finishing the devotional it was next time for competition, which consisted of pool activities such as relay races. This provided a great opportunity for our team to intermix with the coaches of CDUC by having members from each group on different teams. Upon completion of the pool activities we all sat down to eat a well prepared lunch, and soon after we were finished eating, with a short time period to rest and digest, we got back into competition with a nice game of pick up soccer.
The pickup soccer marked the last planned event and after it was over we were free to do whatever we wanted to for the rest of the day. For some Messiah guys this was an opportunity for them to work on their tans, and some of us might have even tried to get too tan, returning to our rooms that night with sunburns. Many other activities that guys chose to partake in during their free time included shooting basketball, playing billiards, going to the sauna, or continuing to relax in the pool. One activity that many of us did, something that most of us had probably never done before, was to eat fresh picked mangos. We were able to do this by climbing up into trees and knocking mangos down to teammates that were below.
Overall the day was a lot of fun and many would probably say it was their favorite day of the trip. As I said earlier it provided a time of relaxation for both us and the coaches, but it also allowed us to grow closer to the people we had been working alongside the whole week.
